The release of “Beetlejuice 2” (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) trailer has got fans excited and talking about the long-awaited sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 film, as some of the original ensemble, including Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder, are returning to their memorable roles.
The trailer shows three generations of the Deetz family attending an undisclosed funeral. Catherine O’Hara, one of the original cast members, returns to her role as Grandmother Delia. Ryder, who now will share the story with her daughter Astrid, played by “Wednesday” breakout star Jenna Ortega, a newcomer in the story, will dazzle the audience with this newest horror flick.
But what appears to be the fan favorite in the one-minute trailer is Keaton, who’s resurrected to his titular role after 36 years. In the trailer, the “Batman” actor only delivers a one-liner, but it becomes enough for the viewers to be transported back to their childhood. Beetlejuice rises from its ashes and happily declares, “The juice is loose!”
In his recent interview on SiriusXM’s “The Jess Cagle Show,” Keaton teased that he has seen a cut of the second film installment and remarked that it has been “emotional” and a “beautiful” journey.
“It is really good. And beautiful. Beautiful, you know, physically. You know what I mean? The other one was so fun and exciting visually. It’s all that, but really kind of beautiful and interestingly emotional here and there. I wasn’t ready for that, you know,” he said.
The award-winning actor then praised his co-stars, including Justin Theroux, a newbie in the ensemble.
“It’s great and the cast, I mean, Catherine, if you thought she was funny last time, double it. She’s so funny and Justin Theroux is like, I mean, come on,” he remarked.
“Beetlejuice 2” will also feature Willem Dafoe and Monica Bellucci. It is set to be released in movie theaters on Sept. 6, 2024.
