Aaron Taylor-Johnson is reportedly set to take on the James Bond role, succeeding Daniel Craig who bowed out of the film franchise in 2021.
Taylor-Johnson, best known for his portrayal in “Kick-Ass” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” secured the role after reportedly emerging as the frontrunner among candidates in January 2023.
It was also reported at the time that producer Barbara Brocolli of Eon Productions—the company behind the 007 films—had a screen test with the English actor, and was impressed by him.
“Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back,” an insider told The Sun, as per a report on Monday, March 18.
“As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”
While no official announcement has been made, sources claimed that the film’s script is “being worked on,” and that shooting will start this year.
Taylor-Johnson has yet to comment on the matter as of this writing.
