Hyeri revealed that she had an agreement with her ex-boyfriend Ryu Jun-yeol to discuss their relationship after their breakup.

They, however, haven’t been in contact since then. This led to the actress saying sorry for allowing her “impulsive emotions” to get the best of her.

The actress-singer and Ryu were in a relationship for eight years before their split was confirmed in November 2023. The actor is currently dating Han So-hee, although the latter clarified that “no overlapping” happened between her and Hyeri.

Before Ryu and Han’s relationship was confirmed, Hyeri made headlines after she made a cryptic remark on her Instagram Story on March 15.

This led Han to make an apparent response to the former K-pop idol through social media as well.

Hyeri penned a lengthy apology on Instagram days later, saying she “failed to consider the ripple effects” leading to “anyone [being] harmed” by her actions.

“I sincerely apologize for the speculations and controversies that arose over the past few days due to my emotions. I think I failed to consider the ripple effects that each of my minor actions could have,” she said via a Soompi translation.

Without disclosing Ryu’s name, the “Reply 1988” star said their split was not an easy decision, and they had an agreement to discuss their relationship in the future. However, nothing came to fruition since they haven’t been in contact.

Last November, the news was released that my eight-year relationship came to an end.

“It was not a decision made in a short time, and even after the breakup news came out, we had a conversation about talking more (about our relationship),” she said.

“However, we have not had any contact or met since that conversation.”

Despite this, Hyeri apologized for allowing her “impulsive emotions” to cause harm without explaining the “reason” behind them.

“Four months later, I think my emotions after coming across a new article were perceived not as actress Lee Hyeri but as just Lee Hyeri. I apologize once again for causing harm with my impulsive emotions,” she said.

The actress-singer then vowed to be “more careful with [her] words and actions” after the incident.

“Over the past few days, I didn’t explain the reason for my actions because I thought that our conversations were overly personal, and it would only increase fatigue (to the public). If this confused anyone, I am also sorry for that. Moving forward, I will be more careful with my words and actions,” she said.

Meanwhile, Ryu’s agency C-Jes Studios has yet to clarify the timeline of his relationship with Hyeri and Han, as of press time. The label, however, confirmed he’s indeed dating Han.
