Actor Jake Cuenca confessed to feeling nervous when he first found out that he would be working with his best friend, Paulo Avelino, in the local adaptation of the Korean hit series “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?”
“It’s because I know how good he is,” said Jake, who plays Cyrus Castillo, older brother of Paulo’s character Brandon in the series. The two characters may be siblings, but they are the fiercest of rivals.
“They’re very cold to each other. Doing the series was very fun, even though our characters quarrel all the time.”

The series, which also stars Kim Chiu, starts streaming on the Viu app on March 18.
‘Light switch’
“Paulo and I talk about acting even during our spare time. That’s why we’ve long been wondering, ‘When will producers put us in a project together?’ I’m excited for everyone to see the scenes,” Jake told reporters during a recent media gathering. “We never had a problem looking at each other as rivals. Did we?”
“No we didn’t,” replied Paulo. “The nice thing about Jake is that he’s very professional. He is always straight to the point. He knows his character well. Acting is just like a light switch; he turns it on and off. It’s an honor that I got to work with Jake for a longer time in this series.”
Jake responded: “Same with me. Paulo is my best friend but I’m also a fan of his. For me, it’s an honor.” INQ
