Less than a week after the conclusion of the 71st Miss World Festival in India, the hunt for the Philippines’ representative to the international pageant’s next edition is now underway.
The Miss World Philippines Organization (MWPH) announced the start of its 2024 pageant season by declaring the opening of its application process in a social media post released on the evening of March 14.
“Step into the spotlight and join us for Miss World Philippines 2024. It’s your chance to shine and complete this year’s incredible lineup of candidates. Are you ready to make your mark?” MWPH said.
This will be the 12th edition of the standalone pageant that chooses the Philippines’ representative to the Miss World pageant. It will be held two years since the staging of the most recent edition where Gwendolyne Fourniol emerged victorious.
The queen had to wait longer than usual for her international competition because the Miss World Organization (MWO) kept on postponing the staging of its 71st edition originally scheduled for late 2022. As a result, MWPH also had to delay its mounting of another competition.
Fourniol missed the initial cut in the finale show of the international pageant held at the Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai, India, on March 9. Krystyna Pyszkova from the Czech Republic was proclaimed Miss World.
MWPH said, “[A] Miss World Philippines’ true radiance lies in her beauty of heart and her purposeful spirit. Embrace your crown and make a positive impact on the world.” The national competition said it is looking for an “exceptionally empowered Filipina.”
The Miss World Philippines pageant is open to female Filipino citizens who hold a Philippine passport, between the ages of 17 and 28 years old, not shorter than 5’4” in height, and has never been married or borne children.
The applicant must also possess a pleasing personality, with good moral character, grace and poise, MWPH added. Deadline for submission of applications is April 12. A link that will lead to the application form is available on the “Miss World Philippines Organization” Facebook page. Accomplished forms should be sent to info@alvpageantcircle.org.
The Miss World Philippines pageant is a competition under the ALV Pageant Circle of talent manager and entrepreneur Arnold Vegafria, who also mounted the Miss Grand Philippines contest last year. He is also the country’s national director for the Reina Hispanoamericana pageant.
To date, Megan Young remains to be the lone Filipino woman to be crowned Miss World. She won the title in the international pageant’s 63rd edition held in Indonesia in 2013.
