Tirso Cruz III has tendered his resignation as the chairman of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) due to “personal reasons.”

While both Cruz and the national film agency have yet to release an official statement, FDCP consultant and director Jose “Joey” Javier Reyes confirmed the veteran actor’s resignation in a statement sent to INQUIRER.net on Wednesday, March 13.

FDCP division manager Rica Arevalo was then appointed by the board of trustees, and will reportedly serve as the officer-in-charge until the President appoints the agency’s new chairman.

Cruz’s resignation is reportedly effective as of March 1, 2024.

Cruz assumed the FDCP chairmanship in July 2022, replacing actress Liza Diño. Diño, who was supposed to serve the post until 2025 after former President Rodrigo Duterte’s reappointed her, served as the FDCP head from 2016 to 2022.
