Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss’ hit musical “Six” will be staged on a “strictly limited season” in Manila this coming October, organizer GMG Productions announced on International Women’s Day Friday, March 8.
The Philippine run of the hit musical—which tells the story of King Henry VIII’s wives Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr—is produced by Kenny Wax, Wendy Barnes, Andy Barnes and George Stiles.
Debuting at the Edinburgh Festival in 2017, “Six” is a “modern-pop” take on the lives of King Henry VIII’s wives in a bid to “reclaim their narratives,” as they take on the identity of “fierce and influential pop stars.”
GMG Productions CEO Carlos Candal was excited about the hit musical coming to the Philippines, pointing out that its “energy and impact” will make waves in the theater scene.
“The energy and impact of this production are unparalleled, and we believe Manila audiences are in for a royal treat,” Candal said. “This is not just a show but an experience that celebrates the strength and resilience of women in a way that is both entertaining and empowering.”
The retelling of female historical figures also features the six wives sharing their own stories in a bid to prove who suffered the most from King Henry VIII. The Philippine shows will run from Oct. 1 to 20 at The Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque, with tickets available starting April 19.
