Miss World 2024: Gwendolyne Fourniol secures Top 8 spot

Philippines’ Gwendolyne Fourniol concluded her Miss World journey after she fell short of entering the pageant’s Top 40 finalists during the coronation night held in India on Saturday, March 9. 

Candidates who advanced to the next round were Brazil, Uganda, Ukraine, Nepal, Martinique, Croatia, Vietnam, Botswana, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, England, Lebanon, Tunisia, Belize, Canada, Dominican Republic, Peru, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, Cameroon, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Gibraltar, Italy, Spain, Wales, Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Turkey.

Prior to the coronation night, Fourniol qualified for the global tilt’s fast track events including the Top Model challenge, and in the first rounds of Head-to-Head challenge, Sports challenge and Talent event.

Fourniol, a lass from Negros Occidental, competed with 111 other delegates, all vying to inherit the crown from reigning queen Karolina Bielawska. 

This year’s competition is the global tilt’s 71st edition, which is held two years after the previous competition staged in 2022.

Meanwhile, actress-beauty queen Megan Young remains the lone Miss World titleholder from the Philippines. She won the crown in 2013.
