TXT reminded me: ‘Don’t rush today, tomorrow will be waiting’

TXT (투모로우바이투게더) minisode 3: TOMORROW Concept Trailer

Why are we in constant pursuit of something? Is it the fear of the unknown and the pause? Is it the fear of being left behind?

There comes a point in one’s life when we’re running, and running, and running, and running—only to realize we don’t know exactly where we’re headed.

The running part is tiring, but it’s the realization that we’re directionless that is terrifying. I guess it’s human nature to think that the uncertainty of the future and the continuous ticking of the clock are scary.

Tomorrow X Together recently released its concept trailer for its next mini-album, minisode 3: tomorrow.

To say that the trailer is aesthetically beautiful, with its almost short film-like style and execution, would be an understatement.

It’s thought-provoking, too.

In our constant pursuit of something, we forget about what matters most: ourselves.

We burn ourselves out and forget to take a break, thinking we’ll be left behind as the world continues to revolve.

We strive to achieve things people our age “should have” achieved. We push ourselves to figure out things that people our age “should have” figured out.

We want to grow up as quickly as we grow old.

We’re in such a rush that, in the process, we lose the person we are and forget about the person we were — that kid within us full of innocence and bliss.

In times we feel alone, we should remember that our younger selves are behind us, rooting for us, and waiting for us.

The trailer was a reminder from our younger selves that when we get lost, it’s okay to look back. It’s a reminder that when we lose our way, we should enjoy the journey as we figure out our destination.

It’s a reminder that we don’t need to rush our lives because ‘tomorrow’ will always be waiting for us.

Look back, but look forward, too.

There’s a saying that goes, “Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.”

And so in trying to catch that butterfly, maybe, just maybe, it’s better to just sit back and appreciate the joy of seeing it, then hold on to that feeling, instead of desperately grasping it.

When the weight of living gets heavy, breathe. And breathe again. Then keep going.

Frankly, I’ve distanced myself from K-pop over the past few months to focus on other things in my life. But somehow, Tomorrow X Together always finds me when I unknowingly need them the most.

I’m coming home, my younger self. I have so many stories to tell you.

Let’s begin with: We’ve made it far, kid.
