Elijah Canlas was firm as he reminded the youth to stand up against historical revisionism during a concert to commemorate the 38th anniversary of EDSA People Power in Quezon City on Sunday, Feb. 25.
Accompanied by screen veteran Jaime Fabregas, Canlas made a brief appearance at the Buhay ang EDSA” concert at the People Power Monument in White Plains, Quezon City, as he spoke about the importance of pushing back against historical revisionism.
“Nasa sa henerasyon ko, nasa susunod na henerasyon kung papaano poprotektahan ang katotohanan at paano natin lalabanan ang historical revisionism. Nasa sa atin ito,” he said, as recorded by @ProjectGunitaPH on X (formerly Twitter).

The actor also reminded the youth to not be scared of countering fake news as a way of showing love to the Philippines.
“Huwag tayo magpapatalo, huwag tayo magpapasindak sa fake news. Manindigan tayo. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas,” he said. (Let’s not hold back. Let’s not be intimidated by fake news. Let’s stand firm. Long live the Philippines.)
On the sidelines of the show, Canlas also posed for a photo with one @eicvsfascism.

Canlas will take on the role of the late student activist Edgardo “Edjop” Jopson in the upcoming film “Edjop” which also stars Cedrick Juan and Jodi Sta. Maria.
Details about the film are yet to be revealed, Jopson was known as one of the key figures of the youth movement during the dark years of martial law, which the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos Sr., father of the current president and namesake, Bongbong Marcos Jr., was president.
According to the website of the Martial Law Museum, Jopson suffered a violent death upon his arrest and execution by military leaders for his “refusal to cooperate.”
