Mariel Padilla shrugged off criticisms for having an intravenous (IV) therapy session at the office of her husband, Sen. Robin Padilla, choosing instead to thank the latter for being the “best.”

The actress was is in hot water after a now-deleted post of her undergoing glutathione therapy made waves on social media, and was rebuked by Sen. Nancy Binay, citing the Department of Health’s (DOH) advisory against the use of glutathione for skin whitening.

Amid the controversy, Padilla had her husband to thank for defending her.

“You are the best @robinhoodpadilla, I love you. I’m so blessed,” she said in the caption of her Instagram post on Saturday, February 24.

Binay, chairman of the Senate’s ethics committee, claimed Padilla’s act of having her gluta drip within senate premises, citing at least two reasons: first, that the DOH has advised against using gluta drip for skin whitening; and second, that it was inappropriate to have it done within the hallowed halls of the government building, aside from the fact that it is ill-equipped to respond to her situation should anything happen to her medically.

Robin dismissed criticisms against his husband, saying in a text message to INQUIRER.net that Rodriguez’s intention to post about her gluta drip was to “promote good looks and good health.” He lamented that the matter has evolved into a “political issue.”

“Nakakatawa naman po ang political issue na yan… If they saw something bad in that photograph, I apologize. No intention of disrespect,” he said. “My wife loves to promote good looks and good health.”

The former “Pinoy Big Brother” host also reshared a quote from Britney Spears on her Instagram Story on the same day, which said: “Every day is a fresh start.”

In a previous report, Mariel told Inquirer Bandera in an exclusive statement that she didn’t intend to offend anyone with her post, and that she even had another “IV drip session while live selling” on Feb. 23.

“In my heart, [wala] akong tinapakan na kahit sinong tao. Kung may na-offend, sorry, pero walang intention na maka-offend,” she was quoted as saying.
