Lovi Poe is set to star in the upcoming Hollywood independent feature “Bad Man,” which has wrapped filming.
In an exclusive report by Deadline, the Filipino actress will star alongside Seann William Scott (“American Pie”), Johnny Simmons (“The Perks of Being a Wallflower”), Rob Riggle (“21 Jump Street”), Chance Perdomo (“After We Fell”), and Andre Hyland (“Barry”).
Poe took to Instagram to share the good news, accompanied by a few photos from the set as she took a selfie with some of her Hollywood co-stars.
“So happy to finally announce being part of Bad Man! I can’t wait to share more about this amazing film with an even more amazing cast! (Yes, this was the reason why I was in Alabama!)” wrote the actress.
The excitement of the “Batang Quiapo” actress was echoed by her fellow Filipino celebrities, as congratulations from Max Collins, Iza Calzado, Jericho Rosales and Janine Gutierrez, among others, poured in the comment section of her post.
The action-comedy film is based on a true story and centers on a federal state police officer (Scott) with a serious meth problem who teams up with a morally strict local deputy (Simmons) as they try to investigate a murder.
Produced by Warner Davis and Todd Friedman for Hemlock Circle Productions, Brian Levy for Entertainment 360, Monty Blencowe, and Shaun Sanghani for SSS Entertainment, the Hollywood independent movie marks Michael Diliberti’s feature directorial debut, who co-wrote the screenplay with JJ Nelson.
Poe, who was last seen as Monica, aka Mokang, in the Philippine TV series “Batang Quiapo,” bid her character goodbye last January.
“A big part of my 2023 was breathing life into a character I have grown to love—what a privilege it was to play Mokang. She was a fighter, and she taught me how it is to be truly free. It really was a tough decision for me to make, but I have decided to turn the page,” the actress wrote in her post.
