Boy Abunda keeps mum after Bea Alonzo, Dominic Roque call off wedding
Boy Abunda has chosen to keep his silence after appearing to feel alluded to by Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque as among those who confirmed their breakup without their consent.
Abunda said he had every reason to react to Alonzo and Roque’s joint statement, but he would rather respect the wishes of the couple about wanting to keep their privacy for the meantime.
“May dahilan para mag-react sa statement pero I’m not going to do that now (There’s a reason to react to such statements but I’m not going to do that now),” he said on the Monday newscast of 24 Oras when asked to comment about the matter.
In their statement which was posted on Instagram on Sunday, Feb. 11, Alonzo and Roque said they decided to call off their wedding, although their position on their relationship remains uncertain as they didn’t clarify if they had indeed ended their romance for good.
“There have been many speculations, questions, and insults. Unfortunately, some even confirmed our breakup without our consent. Some created ridiculous stories that had no basis and were utterly false,” their statement read.
Days before the pair’s confirmation, Abunda, citing his own sources, reported that Alonzo and Roque had indeed broken up. His confirmation, however, merely echoed those that have already been making the rounds of show biz circles.
But the veteran entertainment show host said he understood where the couple were coming from in issuing their joint statement.
“I realized the people involved in this controversy are going through pain… Masakit maghiwalay, masakit mapunta sa situation na ‘yun. Even pain deserves respect at pinipili kong manahinik (It’s painful to break up, it’s painful to be in that kind of situation. Even pain deserves respect and I choose to keep quiet).”
Apart from Abunda, showbiz insider Ogie Diaz, too, reported on Alonzo and Roque’s relationship going south, while noting such reports of the couple’s decision to sign a prenup before getting married in his vlog on Feb. 3.
Abunda also mentioned a prenup in his report while revealing the couple intended to get married sometime in September and that they had been going on ocular visits in Europe and Japan.
