Milly Alcock, best known for her portrayal of young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the “House of the Dragon,” will bring to life the titular hero in the upcoming DC feature film “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.”

The Australian actress’ casting as Supergirl, also known as Kara Zor-El, was confirmed by DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn via his Instagram page on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

“Milly is a fantastically talented young actor, and I’m incredibly excited about her being a part of the DC Universe,” Gunn said.

“Yes, I first became aware of her in House of the Dragon but I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for ‘Supergirl.’ She embodies Kara as envisioned by [Tom King, Bilquis Evely] and Ana Nogueira,” he added.

King and Evely are the authors of the DC Comics run on which the upcoming film will be based. Nogueira, meanwhile, was tapped last November to write the screenplay of the movie.

Alcock, for her part, expressed her gratitude and said she was excited to portray the DC character, through her Instagram page.

“So excited to be a part of the DC fam. Thank you so much to [James Gunn] for trusting me with Kara/Supergirl,” she said.

Further details on the upcoming “Supergirl” film have yet to be disclosed as of this writing.
