The musical version of the 2007 blockbuster film “One More Chance” is set to dazzle theatergoers with songs from OPM band Ben&Ben this summer.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Jan. 23, the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) unveiled the official poster of the musical with its run dates.
“Star Cinema’s cult classic movie ‘One More Chance’ meets the country’s most sought-after nine-piece band, Ben&Ben!” PETA wrote in its caption.
The musical adaptation is set to premiere on April 12 and will run until June 16. According to the post, information about the sale of tickets will be released soon.
Last year, Ben&Ben first took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their feelings on the collaboration, saying, “We are honored for our songs to be chosen for this project. Thank you for making our dreams come true, Liwanag.”
This will mark the first time that Ben&Ben’s songs will be featured in a live musical. The Filipino band’s songs have been used in different media prior to this, most recently in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023 entry, “Rewind,” starring Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, as well as Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano’s 2020 TV series that featured the OPM band’s cover of Bread’s “Make It with You” as the official theme song.
PETA first announced “One More Chance: The Musical” in a curtain call of its “Walang Aray” show last October. The official lineup of the cast for the staging has yet to be announced.
“One More Chance” the movie was top-billed by John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo and is currently streaming on Netflix.
It follows the love story of Popoy (Cruz) and Basha (Alonzo), who have been together since college but have different ambitions that take a toll on their relationship, leading to a breakup, but lingering feelings bring them back together again.
