Toward the end of the action flick “The Bourne Legacy,” a boy watching the matinee screening at a Makati cinema suddenly hollered, clapping: “Ay si Kuya Tomtom!” Turned out, the young boy who played comic Lou Veloso’s son was in the audience. His name: Adrian Talinga (of Sta. Ana, Manila).
Thesma Talinga, Adrian’s aunt, said the kid had been feeling down so she treated him to an afternoon at the movies with his cousin Andres.
Adrian told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that he had acted in a Senakulo staged by Veloso’s Manila Mobile Theater Foundation.
The Hollywood film’s director, Tony Gilroy, asked Veloso to find a kid who could pass for a real Manila street urchin. Veloso said Talinga fit the role to a T.
“He hangs out in the plaza near my home. I told him to forget there was a camera in front of him,” Veloso related.
Talinga said he felt shy at first, but eventually had fun. His talent fee for the short role: P40,000. Plus, he got to travel to Palawan and share the screen with Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz. By Bayani San Diego Jr.
