The Miss Philippines Earth pageant has just made a call for applicants to this year’s edition, for women who have the courage to fill the shoes that reigning queen Yllana Marie Aduana is continuously expanding.

“The search is on for the next Environmental Ambassador who will uplift the Eco Tourism of the Philippines and its Heritage!” the Miss Philippines Earth pageant announced on social media.

This year’s campaign, it appears, puts emphasis on heritage. “What we have inherited from the past, we value and enjoy in the present, and preserve and pass on to the future generations,” the social media post’s art card said.

The pageant is open to Filipino women not younger than 18 years old and should not be older than 28 years old by the end of December 2024. Applicants should have already finished high school and be of good moral character, with outstanding looks and personality, never been married, and have never borne a child.

The ladies must also be at least 5 feet and 4 inches tall, with above-average communication skills, and possess knowledge on and concern for the environment. Interested individuals may call (02) 87241810 or (0905) 1832243, or e-mail secretariat.missphilippines@gmail.com for inquiries.

Aduana, a medical laboratory scientist, finished as Miss Earth-Air in the 2023 Miss Earth pageant held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in December, sustaining the Philippines’ impressive record in the Manila-based international competition.

She also addressed the delegates at a United Nations global conference in New York in July, and visited all 17 regions of the Philippines to spread awareness of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the global body.

Just recently, Aduana shared a social media post about her measure to promote circular economy through recycling for her nonprofit organization “Edukasyon for Every Juan Philippines.”

The 2024 Miss Philippines Earth winner will compete in the 24th Miss Earth pageant in Vietnam later this year, and will try to become the fifth Filipino woman to win the title, after Karla Henry (2008), Jamie Herrell (2014), Angelia Ong (2015), and Karen Ibasco (2017).
