SB19 dominates 9th Wish Music Awards

It was a night to remember for P-pop powerhouse SB19 as they emerged as one of the big winners at the 9th Wish Music Awards which took place at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, Jan. 14.

During the star-studded show, the P-pop group garnered a total of 3 group awards, including Group of the Year Award. Meanwhile, SB19 members Josh Cullen Santos and Ken — who goes by the name Felip as a soloist — received individual awards for their achievements as solo artists.

Josh said in his acceptance speech that the group’s win is a testament to their arduous journey after going through an “overwhelming” year. “Hindi namin ine-expect ito. Sobra (We didn’t expect this. Really).”

“Honestly, we were betrayed by a lot of people and nand’un na rin kami sa verge kung magpapatuloy pa ba kami. Pero gusto namin magpasalamat sa lahat ng nagtiwala (we were on the verge of being unsure if we’re going to continue. But we want to thank those who believed in us),” he continued.

Aside from the Group of the Year Award, SB19 also brought home the Wishclusive Pop Performance of the Year for their international dance hit “Gento,” and, Wishclusive R&B Performance of the Year for “I Want You.”

Josh won two awards as a solo artist: the Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and Wishers’ Choice awards. Ken, on the other hand, obtained the Wishclusive Hip-Hop Performance of the Year  award, also as a solo artist.
