Gretchen Barretto extended some life and career advice to Heart Evangelista as they try to survive as public figures in the industry.

In Dr. Aivee Teo’s vlog, the two socialites met during their clinic visit, and Barretto reminded Evangelista that when people stop being mean to them, they are not doing something right.

“You must remember that when they stop being mean, something’s wrong with you. And when that happens, you should be worried,” she said.

The former actress commended Evangelista for being brave amid the bashing and encouraged her to stay just as she is.

“You’re so matapang. You will survive this world. Stay beautiful; you will survive,” said Barretto.

“If you stay beautiful and empower yourself, the rest will follow, so just let them,” she added.

Barretto affirmed to Evangelista that no celebrity is like her and that no one can live up to what she has accomplished.

“Matagal pa magkakaroon ng isa pang katulad mo. Or baka hindi. Not just anyone can pop up and say I want to be this and be that,” she said.

The retired celebrity said that others can try to follow in Evangelista’s footsteps, but they will have a hard time maintaining themselves.

“To maintain it is a different story. You have to maintain it,” she added.

In the same vlog, Barretto opened up about what her life has become after quitting social media, noting that she has become more at peace and mature.

“You have to empower yourself, and you can turn off your social media and know, deep in your heart, that you are relevant,” she said.

Barretto deactivated her personal Instagram account two years ago.

Meanwhile, Evangelista has been continually delighting her fans with Instagram posts and a few of her personal YouTube vlogs whenever she attends international fashion shows.
