Andrea Brillantes confessed that she no longer see herself being in a love team and would rather establish herself as a solo actress as well as give her more opportunity to “explore” in showbiz.
During a press conference for “Senior High,” Brillantes explained that she prefers to work as a solo artist than to be boxed in a love team, believing that this would help in her self-growth.
“Mas nakikilala ko ang sarili ko bilang isang actress at mas madami akong pwedeng paglaruan at makatrabaho na bago… Kaya mas magandang mag-explore,” she said. (It helps me know more about myself as an actress, and I have more opportunities to improve myself and work with other people. It’s better to explore.)
The actress also shared that she had been paired with different actors since her “Annaliza” days when she was only 10, including with her “Senior High” co-star JK Labajo. Both stars first worked together as onscreen partners in the 2016 series “Pangako Sa’yo.” Now that she had the opportunity to work alone, she started to enjoy acting more.
“Nagkaroon na ako ng mga konting partners sa ‘Annaliza.’ I was 10. Si JK naging kapartner ko rin before (I had a few partners in ‘Annaliza.’ I was 10. JK was also my onscreen partner before),” she said.
“Ang dami ko nang napagdaanan sa shows na lagi akong may kapartner. Noong nagkaroon ako ng opportunity na pwede na akong maging solo artist, gusto ko na siyang i-explore. Ngayon, super ko na siyang nae-enjoy,” she further said. (I always worked in shows where I’m paired with someone. When I had the opportunity to be a solo artist, I wanted to explore it more. I enjoy it now.)
Brillantes said that while she is supportive of love teams in show biz, she realized that it is “not for her,” adding that not being part of a love team makes her not entirely “dependent” on someone for her career’s success.
“Support ako sa love teams pero na-realize ko na I think it’s not for me to be paired up with someone,” she said. “Personally, mas nakakakita ako ng personal growth kapag mag-isa ako. Pero support ako sa mga love teams. I have nothing against them. This is just my personal opinion.”

In the same mediacon, the actress revealed that she’s open to working on a GL (girls’ love) project with her onscreen best friend Xyriel Manabat but she respects the latter’s non-showbiz boyfriend.
Brillantes takes on the role of twins Luna and Sky in the ongoing youth series, which also stars Labajo, Manabat, Kyle Echarri, Elijah Canlas, Daniela Stranner, Gela Atayde, Angel Aquino, Zaijian Jaranilla, and Baron Geisler.
