Jasmine Curtis-Smith revealed that she and boyfriend Jeff Ortega have talked about getting married, and she also shared how their living together came about.
In an interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on January 8, Curtis-Smith talked about how she and her boyfriend of 8 years started to live together, noting that it began when she was around 22 years old.
“I think I was around 22 or 23 nung una kaming naglive-in together, and at that point, mag-isa na po talaga ako in my own place, in my own apartment. With his work always taking him to different places, kapag may panahon siyang umuwi or mabisita ako, sakin na rin siya natutulog,” she said.
The “World Between Us” star noted that it came naturally for her and Ortega to start living together, considering the amount of trust her family has for her boyfriend, especially from her older sister, Anne Curtis.
“Sobrang laki rin po kasi ng trust ng mommy ko, ng daddy ko, especially si ate kay Jeff, so it kind of naturally just happened. Una may maleta siya tapos eventually here may closet space ka na ng konti hanggang sa may isa na siyang buong closet for himself, so organically na lang [nangyari],” she shared.
When asked if marriage was already part of their plans, Curtis-Smith admitted that it was their end goal, given the number of years they had already invested in and shared with each other.
“We have talked about marriage. We have always been aware of our end goal. Ayaw namin na parang hindi kami aware sa timeline namin, and kung ano ‘yung iniinvest namin sa isat-isa. Kasi sayang rin ‘yung 8 years na ‘yung investment, not just sa relationship, but 8 years of my life, of my growth, and likewise na rin po kay Jeff,” she said.
The previous year has been a sort of “breakup season” for several celebrity couples, and the “Asawa ng Asawa Ko” actress revealed that it did not affect her and her boyfriend as they were busy handling their own relationship.
“To be honest, wala kaming naramdaman. As in, wala kaming fear pareho. We are just too distracted with the things we want to happen. So parang lahat ng ginawa namin para magwork kami day-to-day, hindi na namin naririnig ‘yung noise ng iba,” said Curtis-Smith.
When asked how she handles jealousy and distractions outside the relationship, the 29-year-old actress shared that she and Ortega have always been understanding of their limitations.
“I’d say I’m a selosa type. Hindi lang rin sa mga nagpapapansin, nagpapaganda sa kanya, but more of sa time. Sobrang aware niya, and ako very vocal about it. Alam rin niya paano kumambyo para hindi po ako mag-alangan, and the same way with me. Alam ko rin, sa work ko, I know how to distance myself just enough so I can make friends but also not give him anything to worry about,” Curtis-Smith said.
