HODU&U Entertainment, the talent agency that managed Lee Sun-kyun, filed a case against a certain reporter for spreading “false information” on the day of the Korean actor’s death.
The talent company released a statement a week after Lee was found dead on Dec. 27, saying it has begun collecting data to take legal action over the rumors and false information about their artists.
“We express our deepest regret over the malicious and indiscreet reports regarding the late actor Lee Sun-kyun by some media outlets over the past three months,” the statement said, as translated by Korean media outlet Soompi.
“We hoped that the truth would be revealed through a fair police investigation until the end, but since we can no longer do so, we would like to correct the facts one by one by ourselves,” it added.

HODU&U Entertainment then stressed that it had already sued an unnamed reporter on Tuesday, Jan. 2, for reporting “false information as if it were fact.” It was not immediately known which report the talent agency was referring to.
“We ask the reporter for a sincere apology and that they diligently participate in the legal proceedings that will follow,” the agency noted.
It further asked members of the media to take down articles and posts “that were published online without going through fact-checks or that come from unclear sources.”
“HODU&U Entertainment will continue to do our best to ensure that our agency’s actors can work in a stable environment. We ask for your understanding and cooperation,” the statement concluded.
Lee, who was in the middle of an investigation over alleged drug use, was found dead inside a parked vehicle in Seoul. Lee was best known for starring in several projects including the Oscar-winning “Parasite,” “My Mister,” “Coffee Prince” and “A Hard Day.”
