More than a week after the leak of her alleged intimate conversations with “Magandang Dilag” co-star Rob Gomez, Herlene Budol announced that she will release a new single called “Kain Tayo” in 2024.

Budol was involved in a controversy with Gomez after screenshots of their text exchanges were leaked on the latter’s social media platforms earlier this month, which hinted at an apparent sexual relationship between the two. Also lumped in the issue was “Magandang Dilag” co-star Bianca Manalo, who supposedly asked the actor to visit her because a certain someone was already in Valenzuela.

Both actresses, however, denied any involvement with Gomez, while the actor claimed that he didn’t have any access to his phone, seemingly alluding that the messages were posted without his knowledge.

Days later, Budol seemed to have moved on from the scandal as she announced her new single on Instagram on Thursday, Dec. 28, whose title is a reference to one of her messages to Gomez.

“Thank you Mima ko @sirwil75. Yung [kahit hindi na cya Manager ko pero andyan parin cya thru thick [and] thin at pinupush nya ako mag voice lesson… masaya pala ang musika (Thank you Wilbert Tolentino. He may not be my manager anymore, but he’s there for me through thick and thin. He even urged me to take voice lessons. I didn’t know music can be fun),” she wrote.

The former beauty queen said she’s currently being trained by a music coach to sing in different genres while revealing the title of her new single.

“‘Yung may assesment ng coach ko si @kimusikero ng Jazz, Pop, Ballad, Blues, Rock, Hip hop, Classical, Electro, New age, Reggae [at iba pa]. Ciempre Abangan ang bagong Single na ilalabas ko sa 2024, ‘Kain Tayo,’” she wrote.

(I have an assessment with a music coach in different genres like jazz, pop, ballad, blues, rock, hip hop, classical, electro, new age, reggae and more. Of course, don’t miss out on my new single that will be out in 2024, called “Kain Tayo.”)

Budol’s announcement caught most of her followers off guard, as seen in the comments of her post, with some accusing her of having no shame. Others praised her for appearing to be unbothered after the controversy.

Despite the controversy, Budol stressed that her alleged conversations with Gomez were blown out of proportion and that she was merely going along with the latter’s jokes even though she knew that she was being flirted with.

Gomez, on the other hand, has yet to outrightly confirm or deny the rumors with both of his “Magandang Dilag” co-stars, but he seemed to be winning former beauty queen Shaila Rebortera back as he posted photos of their daughter Amelia’s baptism on social media.
