Ivana Alawi couldn’t help but tear up in shock after she was called out by Marian Rivera for being late—which turned out to be part of a prank by the “Rewind” star.
Alawi caught the attention of netizens after Rivera apparently made her cry in a prank orchestrated by the “Batang Quiapo” star’s sister Mona, as seen on the former’s YouTube channel last Wednesday, Dec. 27. The video has over five million views as of this writing.
By the six-minute mark, Rivera stresses that she hates those who usually show up late, to which the “Batang Quiapo” star, who is visibly shaken, promises that she will be punctual.
“Bakit late ka? Sabi mo maaga ka, bakit late ka? Alam mo bang ayaw na ayaw ko ang late?” Rivera tells Alawi. “Palagi ba siyang late? Hindi magandang attitude ‘yan kapag artista ka.”
(Why are you late? You said you’d be early. Why are you late? Do you know that I hate those who show up late? Is she always late? It’s not a good trait to have as an actor.)
The “Rewind” star, who remains in character, then stresses that being late shows poor work ethic, and criticizes the food served to her. Alawi, meanwhile, is perplexed throughout the ordeal.
“Attitude siya, gan’un?” Rivera asks, referring to Alawi. “Ba’t dito attitude ka sa’kin? Bakit ka late? Pinaghintay mo ako. Alam mo walang nagpapahintay sa akin dito tapos ikaw late ka? Tapos ito lang handa mo sa’kin, crab lang? Sabi mo madaming food, diba? Ano ba naman ‘tong vlog ‘to. Nakakaloka, anong puchu puchu ‘to?”
(Is she a prima donna? Why are you acting like a prima donna towards me? Why are you late? You made me wait. Do you know that no one makes me wait, and then you’re late? Then this is the only spread you have for me? Crab only? You told me there’s a lot of food, right? What kind of vlog is this? What kind of nonsense is this?)
The Kapuso actress then walks out on a tearful Alawi, before the scene shifts to Mona asking Marian if she could prank the “Batang Quiapo” star for a video.
Minutes later, Rivera rushes to hug Alawi tightly, saying: “Hindi ko na kaya ‘to (I can’t do this anymore), it’s a prank!”
An emotional Alawi then expresses her admiration for her “idol” Rivera, who brings out a cake to celebrate the former’s birthday.
The “Batang Quiapo” star turned 27 on Christmas Day.
Rivera is making waves after she was nominated as Best Actress for her portrayal of Mary in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “Rewind.”
On the other hand, Alawi also received the Best Actress nomination for her work in the MMFF 2022 entry “Partners in Crime.”
