Live tribute for Dolphy on Aug. 16

/ 12:01 AM August 08, 2012

DOLPHY

Life begins at 40, so they say. For Tito Dolphy, his legacy lives on long after the “40th Day” (Aug. 16) since he passed on. His son, Ronnie Quizon, let me in on the plans for that special occasion.

“We will have a live Dolphy tribute event,” he says. “Zsa Zsa and Zia will be out of the country on that day, so they will be taping their segments to be shown during the event. For Zia’s number, there will be a video of our bonding moments with Dad to be shown as she sings his favorite song, ‘Smile.’”

It will be “an event for the three networks,” says Epi Quizon, who promised us details “as soon as the plans are finalized.”

Robin Padilla and Mariel Rodriguez finally have their own “Baby,” a reality show on Ustream.

“Since Babe (Binoe) and I are from different networks, we can’t be in a show together,” Mariel says. “So we created a web TV show about my life as a wife—not just any wife, but Robin Padilla’s wife.”

They have no title yet for the show on www.ustream.tv/channel/pinoyrealtv, and are asking fans online for suggestions.

“It’s very interactive,” Mariel says. “We show videos of our trips abroad, behind the scenes of our shows/shootings, day-to-day activities … We want to make our followers part of our love story.”

Their story is really one for the books!

Nation’s sweetheart

When people ask me who are the genuinely sweet celebs, Anne Curtis is always on my list. The “Nation’s Sweetheart” is also a devoted girlfriend to Erwan Heussaff. With her stature and charms, Anne can hook any guy she wants. Yet she remains loyal to Erwan, whom she calls “Mon Amour (My Love).”

She accompanied him to the Iron Man Race in Cebu and posted a photo on Instagram with this caption: “Girlfriend Duties. With my Iron Man. Congratulations, Mon Amour. Ranking 12 in your age group and 118 overall is amazing for your very first Ironman 70.3. So proud of you! You’re the best triathlete in the world for me! I’ll always be your #1 fan!”

Sweetness is in everything that Anne does!

Don’t miss “Pinoy Classic Rock Night” on Aug. 10 at ’70s Bistro (Anonas Street, Quezon City), with Mike Bewer and his band Thy Holy Water featuring special guest Harris Dio Smith (from Dubai). Finale is an “Absolute Tribute” to Sampaguita, featuring Gary Perez, Wendell Garcia of Pupil, and many surprise guests. Tickets are available at the gate for P250, with a free drink. Let the good times rock and roll!

Catch my all-time fave band, True Faith, at Off the Grill (Timog Avenue, QC) all Tuesdays of August. Bands come and go but True Faith remains. Their timeless hits—“Perfect,” “Kung Okay lang sa ’Yo,” “Dahil Ikaw,” “Muntik nang Maabot Ang Langit”—are staples on every Pinoy’s karaoke list.
