Beauty Gonzalez said their Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “Kampon” will take the viewers on a different whim.
In a quick interview with the press during the Christmas party of one of her endorsements on Dec. 20, the actress said their MMFF film entry is not the typical “crying and screaming” Filipino movie and that it will leave a memorable impression on the audience.
“It’s not a normal Filipino movie, na napapanood mo, ‘yung iyakan, sigaw. When you watch Kampon, I promise you hanggang paglabas niyo ng sine, ang dami niyong tanong sa movie. Hindi siya ‘yung mga katangahan na tanong ha, talagang palaisipan na tanong. So I’m excited for you guys to watch it. Basta ibang-ibang ‘yung atake namin dito,” she affirmed.
Best actress
The 32-year-old actress then reflected on the rave reviews that their movie entry is getting, as well as the comments that she can be a good contender for Best Actress.
“Nabasa ko nga ‘yung mga reviews. I felt good after. Hay, thank you, Lord, kasi at the end of the day I just want to give my best and to read those reviews, it feels good syempre kasi nakita nila ‘yung hard work ko. It’s a totally different acting, kasi very subtle ‘yung acting ko sa Kampon,” she said.
“Ito kinikilabutan na hindi ko maintindihan. First runner-up happy na ako, to be considered as one happy na ako. It’s a very tough game, daming magandang pelikula. May Marian Rivera, may Alessandra de Rossi, lahat. Happy na ako na people notice it; they tell me about it; basta first runner up; happy na ako,” said Gonzalez on the possibility of taking home the Best Actress award.

When asked if her husband, Norman Crisologo, already saw the film and what he thought of the intimate scenes with her onscreen partner, Derek Ramsay, the actress revealed it’s not just her partner who watched the film but also Ramsay’s wife, Ellen Adarna.

Huwag mo ako anuhin.’ I don’t watch myself, so gusto ko na umalis. Talagang hinatak niya ako at pinaupo, hindi ako nakatakas.”
‘Kampon’ is one of the 10 entries for the MMFF 2023 that will run from Dec. 25 to Jan. 7, 2024, in more than 100 cinemas nationwide.
