Housemates of Ronaldo Valdez have been required by police to undergo paraffin and ballistic tests as part of its investigation following the death of the veteran actor.
Valdez was found dead in his bedroom in the afternoon of Dec. 17, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit Chief Don Don Llapitan said, based on a report by “24 Oras” on GMA.
INQUIRER.net received the same information on the afternoon of Dec. 17, Sunday, but chose not to report the matter yet as the family of the actor has not confirmed his death at the time. Valdez’s son, Janno Gibbs, subsequently issued a statement on Monday confirming the reports.
Based on the report, Valdez’s driver found him unconscious while sitting on his chair with a gunshot wound on his temple. This prompted the actor’s housemates to call the police on the scene. The actor was even rushed to the hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.
Given that a gun was found in the scene, Valdez’s housemates were subjected to undergo tests as part of the police’s standard operating procedure in such cases. The test results have yet to be released as of this writing.
“QCPD is currently conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the cause of the death of Mr. James Gibbs aka Ronaldo Valdez,” QCPD said in an earlier statement. “We understand the importance of this matter; hence, we are working diligently to gather all relevant facts and evidence.”
Valdez’s wake is held at the Loyola Memorial Chapels in Guadalupe, Makati. Among the celebrities who already visited the wake were Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Gelli de Belen and other “2 Good 2 Be True” actors.
