Matteo Guidicelli as Pedro Penduko for MMFF 2023
Matteo Guidicelli is one of the actors who will make their first ever appearance in a Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry this year. Despite starring in numerous films and series already, the actor said he’s excited to join this year’s festival.
In a quick interview with INQUIRER.net during the Parade of Stars on Dec. 16, Guidicelli weighed in on the significance of MMFF to the Filipinos, noting that it offers a contribution to the Philippine culture and economy.
“It’s very much significant, it’s very important to be proud of Filipino filmmakers, Filipino art and maraming salamat sa MMFF for every year na ginagawa nila ‘to. This is my first time but I’ve been a big fan of MMFF throughout the years and it’s an honor to be part of it finally this 2023. Napaka importante ‘to para sa ating mga kababayan, para sa ating kultura, ating ekonomiya, lahat lahat.” he said.

Leading the film entry “Penduko,” Guidicelli shared the unique trait that will make their movie different from all the other participating films for this 49th edition of MMFF. He noted that it will showcase the culture and traditions of Filipinos.
“Wow, what’s the unique trait, unang una the lineup is beautiful this year. We have 10 amazing movies, amazing actors, amazing production, amazing directors, but I guess Penduko will stand out because with our amazing cast to the amazing directors wrote a new Penduko universe that embodies kulturang Pilipino, tradisyon ng Pilipino, mga albularyo, mga agimat ng Pinoy so it’s a reminder of how important to be proud to be a Filipino.” affirmed the actor.
“Penduko” is one of the 10 entries for the MMFF 2023 that will run from December 25 to January 7, 2024 in more than 100 cinemas nationwide.
