QCPD conducting ‘thorough investigation’ on Ronaldo Valdez’s cause of death

MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Monday said that it is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of veteran television and film actor Ronaldo Valdez.

In a statement, QCPD confirmed the news about the 76-year-old actor but did not reveal the cause of his death.

“The QCPD extends its heartfelt condolences for the reported death of Ronald James Dulaca Gibbs yesterday, December 17, 2023,” QCPD said.

“As of today, QCPD is currently conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the cause of the death of Mr. James Gibbs aka Ronaldo Valdez,” it added.

QCPD likewise extended its condolences to Valdez’s loved ones as it advised the public “to refrain from concluding and respect the family’s request to grieve in private.”

“We understand the importance of this matter; hence, we are working diligently to gather all relevant facts and evidence,” it said.

“We assure the public that any findings from the investigation will be officially released,” the QCPD added.

The veteran actor was survived by his wife, Maria Fe Ilagan Gibbs, and his children, Janno Gibbs and former actress Melissa Gibbs. Janno recently confirmed his father’s death via an Instagram post.

Details of Valdez’s wake have yet to be announced by family.
