Maja Salvador recently announced that she and her husband Rambo Nuñez are expecting their first baby, so the question of whether she will focus on being a mother and set aside her career for now begs an answer.
Sitting down with Bernadette Sembrano for an interview, which was uploaded on her Youtube vlog, the actress weighed in on the feeling of enjoying her pregnancy while at the same time missing the work she was doing before.
“Syempre gusto kong ibuhos ‘yung oras ko sa anak ko pero ngayon na buntis ako, para ako ‘yung, ‘Love, gusto ko magwork’ parang for me, for my mental health, kasi parang ang bilis lang na ang dami kong ginagawa tapos biglang buntis ka ito ka na lang muna,” she reflected.
(Of course, I want to give all my time to my kid, but right now that I am pregnant, I tend to say to my husband, ‘I want to work’ for myself and for my mental health because the shift from doing so much to getting pregnant and doing nothing now is hard.)
Salvador said that even though she is pregnant, she wants to continue doing hosting because she believes that as long as she listens to her body, she can balance doing both.
“Gusto ko magwork kahit hosting lang. Gusto ko naman maramdaman na yes pregnant ako, pero kaya ko pa rin magwork. Pwedeng pagsabayin, pero dapat alam mo kung paano balansehin. Pakinggan mo ‘yung katawan mo, pakinggan mo ang baby kasi siya na rin ang boss,” declared the actress.
(I want to work, even just hosting, because I want to feel that yes, I may be pregnant, but I still can do my career and that it is possible to juggle both as long as you know how to balance and listen to what your body and baby are saying to you.)
The 35-year-old actress noted that, in the meantime, she will not accept any teleserye or movie roles as she will focus on her pregnancy first, but she assures fans that she will not leave show business.
“Hindi muna ako gagawa ng pelikula o ng teleserye, kasi nga syempre magpapaka mommy muna ako, but hindi ko iiwan ang showbiz,” stated Salvador.
(I will not do films or series in the meantime as I will focus on my mother’s duties first, but rest assured, I will not leave the show business.)
