Daniel Padilla is undeniably the hottest young star these days. This early in his career, he has veered away from the shadow of his uncle Robin, which is not an easy thing to do.
But of course, the legendary Padilla charisma made it easier for Daniel to attract attention, but he has reached the top due to his talent.
Let’s get up close and personal with the boy who has launched a thousand shrieks.
What’s the advantage and disadvantage of being the nephew of Robin Padilla?
The good thing is, it was easier for me to become popular since he happens to be my uncle. I don’t see any disadvantage ’cause we’re family. My success is his as well, and vice-versa.
You have some familiar Binoe moves and facial expressions. Do you do that on purpose?
It’s not intentional or scripted. It’s not only my Tito Robin who moves that way. So does my Papa (Rommel) and our elders in the clan. I guess it’s a Padilla trademark.
What advice about your career and about girls did your Tito Robin give you?
Prioritize work and go easy on my love life.
Are you ready for the day when your love team with Kathleen Bernardo would end? And if you were made to choose, who would you want to be your next love interest?
I’m ready for that because all love teams have to break up at some point for career growth. I’m cool about having a new love team if and when the need for it comes.
What do you tell yourself, now that you’re famous?
I remind myself not to let fame get into my head.
How do you court a girl?
I make her feel that she’s the most important person to me.
How do you handle heartbreak?
By praying, and jamming with my band, Parking 5.
What’s a wrong impression of people about you that you want to correct?
That I am conceited and a playboy. That’s not true at all.
What makes you angry?
When my family is judged or treated unfairly.
What makes you cry?
When someone in my family gets hurt.
What’s your most embarrassing moment?
When my Mama calls me “Baby” in front of my friends.
What’s the sweetest thing you’ve done for Kathryn Bernardo?
I gave her a dog.
What’s one thing about girls that you don’t understand?
The way they keep changing their mind.
How do you handle aggressive female and gay fans?
I just let them be. I smile at them as my way of showing I appreciate their adulation.
Don’t you feel like you’re drowning in success?
I have my family and friends to keep me grounded. They remind me that I am still the same DJ.
What makes a girl attractive to you?
Simplicity, and being respectful to her parents.
What’s the naughtiest thing you’ve done?
Wrestling with my band mates.
What’s the most important lesson your Dad and Mom taught you?
To be respectful, to know how to deal with all kinds of people, to love my family and be ready to help always.
What can you say about your Tita BB Gandanghari?
I respect her choice in life and I love her as she is.
Are you homophobic? What do you think about gays?
Not at all. I grew up around gays since Mama has a lot of gay friends. They are fun to be with.
What’s the hardest thing about being Daniel Padilla?
I can no longer go malling which I miss a lot. I don’t have the luxury of sleeping long hours anymore. But no complaints. My life’s never been better.
