“Take it one step at a time, one day at a time.”

This was what actress Dimples Romana said she would tell her friend Kathryn Bernardo if ever the latter would ask for her advice on how to cope with breaking up with longtime boyfriend, Daniel Padilla.

Dimples said that, only two weeks ago, she had dinner with Kathryn and fellow Kapamilya actress Julia Montes. She played mother to the two in the drama series “Mara Clara” a decade ago, and has maintained a close relationship with them since.

“Hanging out with them isn’t new. Whether or not one of us is going through something difficult, we would see each other and have dinner,” Dimples told Inquirer Entertainment during the launch party of the holiday collection of her collaboration with a clothing brand last Nov. 30 in Taguig City.

Happy, beautiful things

“Do you know what we talked about? My kids! They know my daughter (Callie Ahmee). It’s a beautiful thing! Sometimes, it really helps that, when we’re going through something difficult, we talk about something else. The three of us talked only about happy and beautiful things in our own lives, and not what’s going on with other people,” she stressed.

“That’s what I tell all of my friends, too. We have no right to express our opinion on other people’s lives, especially if we cannot say this to their faces. I’m really not comfortable with that. I also don’t feel comfortable befriending people who enjoy talking about other people.”

Dimples admitted that she also feels uncomfortable giving advice to people, “especially if it’s unsolicited.” However, she wanted to remind people, whether they’re her friends or not, that “everything is only temporary.”

She continued: “Sadness, happiness, or anger—they’re all temporary. If it’s something good, enjoy it. If it’s the opposite, look for something to learn from that negative experience, and then move forward. Like what I always tell my friends who are going through difficult times, take it one step at a time, one day at a time.” INQ
