Miss Universe season in the Philippines will never be complete without an outpouring of funny reactions on social media. As expected, its 2023 edition held in El Salvador last Nov. 18 (Nov. 19 in the Philippines) was no different.

One of the most noteworthy moments in the pageant’s coronation was Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray’s apparent disappointment after Michelle Dee failed to advance to the Top 5.

The former titleholder was also referred to as a “coping mechanism” for some netizens, with some opting to rewatch her Miss Universe journey to deal with Dee’s exit.

Apart from the winning queens, Gray was seemingly among the standouts in the global tilt as many hoped that she would be a main host in the upcoming editions.

Maris Racal also caught the attention of netizens due to the apparent similarities between her ABS-CBN Ball and reigning titleholder Sheynnis Palacios’ gowns, down to the silk blue cape.

Pageant fans also noted that India’s Shweta Sharda has an uncanny resemblance to Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.

Other pageant fans believed that Dee deserved a chance to show off her communication skills in the pageant’s dreaded question-and-answer rounds.

Some fans opted to cope with Dee’s exit by sharing a clip of Ethel Booba’s popular catchphrase “wala tayong winner (we don’t have a winner) tonight” which the latter said in response to Vice Ganda’s joke in the now-defunct talk show “Gandang Gabi Vice.”
