SISTAR19, a subunit consisting of SISTAR members Hyolyn and Bora, is set to return to the music industry in January after an 11-year hiatus, South Korean label Klap Entertainment confirmed.

In a statement via Korean media outlets, the power duo confirmed their upcoming return with an aim to “upgrade the [subunit’s] color with new trends.”

“The two members—Hyolyn and Bora—are working hard on their vocals and choreography to upgrade the unit’s identity,” Klap said, per Korea JoongAng Daily.

Klap will be in charge of the “management and production” of the female duo’s new music even though Hyolyn and Bora are signed to different agencies, per report.

Meanwhile, Starship Entertainment—the agency behind SISTAR and SISTAR19—reportedly extended their “full support” for the project.

Details on the subunit’s concept, album and exact comeback date are yet to be disclosed as of this writing.

SISTAR19 debuted in May 2011 with the digital single “Ma Boy,” which revolves around the “feelings of someone in love.” The track, along with the seamless body rolls in the choreography, was a major success at the time.

The duo then released their follow-up album “Gone Not Around Any Longer” in January 2013 along with the title track of the same name.

SISTAR, composed of Hyolyn, Bora, Soyou and Dasom, debuted in June 2010 and was active until their disbandment in June 2017.

Dubbed as the “summer queens” of K-pop during their prime, the quartet is best known for their hit songs “Shake It,” “Touch My Body,” “Loving U” and “I Swear,” among others.

Since their disbandment, the members have been active in various fields of the entertainment industry.
