Michelle Dee is among the 10 silver finalists of the Miss Universe “Voice for Change” video competition, which puts the spotlight on beauty queens and their advocacies to be a transformational leader for the world.
Dee and the delegates from Angola, Brazil, Chile, Lebanon, Puerto Rico, Singapore, South Africa, Ukraine and Zimbabwe were announced as the silver finalists during the pageant’s preliminary competition last Nov. 15 (Nov. 16 in Manila).
“We’re thrilled to announce the 10 Silver Finalists who are making waves with their impactful messages,” Miss Universe wrote on Instagram.
In her “Voice for Change” video, Dee spoke about her lifelong advocacy to promote autism acceptance, inclusivity and empowerment, which she had long called for prior to representing the Philippines in the global tilt.
“We were required to make this a 3 minute video, but I have so much more I want to vocalize. With the help of @missuniverse, I know we can truly make the greatest impact across the globe,” she said on Instagram, while sharing her advocacy video.
The crossover stunner topped the contest’s online voting, ahead of Nicaragua’s Sheynnis Palacios by more than 100,000 votes. The awardees, however, were also based on the judges’ feedback.
The Miss Universe, Mouawad and CI Talks-helmed contest aims to inspire social change through promoting “impactful messages” that will change the world.
The gold winners will be announced on the pageant’s coronation night on Nov. 18 (Nov. 19 in Manila).
