Lovi Poe on striking the ‘perfect balance’ between acting and ‘being Mrs. Blencowe’
Lovi Poe, who flew straight home barely a week after her wedding, said she has yet to plan her honeymoon with British husband Monty Blencowe and is happy to accept suggestions from family and friends.
“I was still in a daze when I returned. I’m just glad that my husband is very understanding—I honestly still find it weird to use the word ‘husband,’” she told reporters recently. Honeymoon could be in any of their three homes: the Philippines, America or the United Kingdom, she added. Monty is currently based in Los Angeles, California.
The actress said that there would be no more wedding ceremonies in the Philippines. “Hopefully, we’ll get to celebrate with our loved ones here. That was hard because I didn’t get to have everyone celebrate with us [in the UK], especially my side of the family. A small celebration would be very nice,” Lovi said.
The actress admitted it was tough to maintain a long-distance relationship, especially with all the time exerted traveling back and forth. “I’m a firm believer that you can do anything as long as you have the proper mindset. The fact that I was able to get back to work after getting married in less than a week, and then fly to Milan [for the Fashion Week], and back, I think it’s possible. As long as you’re ready and you’re doing it for the right reason. I also have my career, so I want to achieve the perfect balance for things like that,” she stressed.
Doing something new
She then pointed out that being Mrs. Blencowe will not keep her from doing the things she is passionate about, career-wise. “One thing I’ve realized is that I just want to keep portraying different characters. This is really my work as an actor. I prefer to do something out-of-the-box … like someone crazy and unconventional. I think it’s what feeds my soul. I want to do something new and every time I do that, it unleashes a different side of me. I love what I’m doing, so I just want to keep doing it.”

We’re just looking forward to where it’s going to lead us. Our work on the show is very impromptu. We change things on the spot, sometimes. That’s what dictates where it’ll go,” she explained.
What Lovi did promise is that she has a film lined up. “I will be sharing something about that soon. We’re still in the middle of it. Naisingit pa kahit may taping. I’m super excited about it because it’s a character that’s someone to look forward to.”
