Vice Ganda assures Ion Perez amid hurtful comments online: ‘Kakampihan kita araw-araw’

Vice Ganda declared his constant love and support for his partner Ion Perez who, as per the comedian, has been negatively affected by the judgment and hurtful comments he receives on social media.

Vice Ganda said this after the “Magpasikat” performance of Perez and his teammates Jhong Hilario and Kim Chiu on “It’s Showtime” on Friday, Nov. 10.

During the group’s presentation, which centered on the harmful effects of social media, each of the trio left a message dedicated to their loved ones. For his part, a tearful Perez apologized to his mom for being impolite at times, saying he hasn’t been in his best state since his older sister died.

Vice Ganda went to Perez after the performance and gave the latter a long tight hug. Their fellow hosts then pointed out that Vice Ganda had been staring with admiration at Perez.

“Proud na proud ako sa kanya. Sobra akong proud d’yan,” Vice Ganda said while trying to hold back his tears. (I am very proud of him.)

“Kasi araw-araw kasama ko ‘yan ‘di ba, alam ko kung gaano siya sinasaktan ng social media,” he continued, already in tears. “Every day he’s being judged kung ano siya, saan siya galing, paano siya magsalita, anong nakikita sa kanya, ‘yung klase ng relasyon na meron siya—every day he’s being judged.”

(Because I’m with him every day, I know how social media hurts him. Every day he is being judged for what he is, where he came from, how he talks, his appearance and the relationship he has—every day he’s being judged.)

The comedian further noted that Perez endures the pain he feels every day, adding that the public does not know how it affects him and Vice Ganda as well.

Addressing his partner, Vice Ganda said, “‘Di ba sabi ko sa ‘yo, mamahalin kita kasi kakampihan kita araw-araw. Ipagdadasal kita araw-araw; yayakapin kita araw-araw; dadamayan kita araw-araw; araw-araw sasamahan kita. Mahal na mahal [kita at] proud na proud ako sa’yo.”

(As I have said, I will love you and be your ally every day. I will pray for you, hug you and be with you every day. I love you so much and I’m so proud of you.)

Vice Ganda reiterated his vows to his partner via a separate Instagram post.

Vice Ganda and Perez confirmed their relationship to the public in 2019, got engaged in 2020, then had a wedding commitment ceremony in Las Vegas in October 2021.
