“I’m closer to Heart—I’ve known her longer,” she tells Inquirer Entertainment during her launch as endorser of shopping website TCAT. “But Marian was nice to me on the set even though it was our first time to work together.”
With the tact of a career diplomat, she parries the query, thus: “I don’t want to get involved. It’s not my battle, anyway.”
Not to dwell on intrigues is an excellent decision, especially since she has earned raves from leading critics for her work on the film
An Inquirer review described Solenn as “adorable,” adding that she “scores with her zest and girlie appeal.”
Solenn gets misty-eyed, talking about the positive feedback. “I didn’t expect it,” she says.
It is a major leap, indeed, considering that she got slammed for her debut, “My Valentine Girls,” in February. “I still didn’t know how to cry onscreen at the time. Lovi Poe (another ‘Temptation’ costar) advised me to think of past troubles. Thing is, I never really experienced anything bad in my life. I had a happy childhood!”
Solenn plans to enroll in acting workshops. “I hope to be given a free day from (GMA series) ‘Captain Barbell’ so I can take classes.”
She is aware that her inability to speak Filipino fluently is a major liability. “I should practice more often. Right now, when I speak the language, friends and household staff laugh at me.”
She has hooked up with a Filipino teacher who gives tutorials online. “We conduct our sessions on Skype,” Solenn says.
She reveals that she actually learned how to cry on cue by watching an instructional video on YouTube.
She also admits that she’s an Internet addict. “Between takes on the set, while waiting, I surf the Net.”
She loves watching Japanese prank videos, keeps in touch with pals on Facebook and updates followers on Twitter.
She plans to hawk her collections, both her clothes and paintings, on TCAT in the near future.
Applying her fashion and makeup training in Paris, Solenn also works as designer for Lulu Tan Gan. Recently, she collaborated with edgy jewelry designer Adante. She’s whipping up an eight-piece fashion collection which she will unveil at a French Embassy event tomorrow.
Solenn, who hosts the makeover show “Fashbook,” is an adrenaline junkie, too. A rescue scuba diver, she has gone tandem skydiving as well.
While in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, during the “Temptation” shoot, she went sandboarding. “[Costar] Mikael Daez and I had a day off,” she said, “so we snuck out and tried sandboarding though it was a huge insurance risk.”
