Martin Nievera keeps mum about ‘ASAP’ no-show

SARAH Geronimo

Fans of Martin Nievera wonder why the singer’s 29th anniversary celebration at “ASAP” didn’t push through last Sunday. Did the ABS-CBN noontime show give way instead to Sarah Geronimo’s comeback?

His fans are worried because of the following tweets that Martin had posted:

“Loyalty, faithfulness, being there from the first day. None of these matter. All you need is a loud, demanding manager.”

“You wanna know the sad truth? Only if you have a persistent manager can you get the treatment you wish you had.”

“It’s better to be a diva pala. You really know who your friends are when you are at your lowest. The rest just think of themselves. Fame keeps them away.”

I clarified the issue with Mart. As always, he answered in true gentleman fashion.

“Please, please let’s not make this about Sarah. Because it really is not. I love Sarah,” Mart explains. “I am not hurt because I was pushed aside in ‘ASAP’ by anyone. In fairness to the show, they had a number for me with a video to greet me for my anniversary. It was I who decided to be absent. To comment further on why I didn’t show up last Sunday would be a sign of weakness.”

He insists that he’s “not one to make demands,” nor does “he count his every accolade in order to assure his or her place on a Sunday afternoon party. But I am only human.”

Be that as it may, Mart reiterates his heart will always be with “ASAP.”

“I have been offered over and over again to move to other networks but my loyalty has always been with my Kapamilya,” he points out. “But in our world, what does loyalty mean anyway?”

Let’s celebrate his 29th anniversary and catch his show, “Martin Nievera: Tribute” at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World on July 16 and September 2. After all, his songs make up the soundtrack of our lives.

Martin will be singing standards from Frank Sinatra, Tom Jones, Dean Martin and Michael Jackson, plus timeless OPM hits from composers George Canseco, Willy Cruz and Louie Ocampo.

As Martin’s Twitter name “4eversinging4u” connotes, he will keep singing his heart out for his fans and his passion for his craft.

Why was Boss Vic del Rosario conspicuously absent at the Araneta Coliseum for Vice Ganda’s concert which he produced?

Rumor has it that Boss Vic is peeved at the comedian’s alleged attitude problem. Heard that Vice demanded a special front row section to be added for his relatives, and that he would curse whoever sits there aside from his family.

Onlookers insist that Vice threw his weight around during technical rehearsals which almost led to the walkout of the director. Perhaps it was just brought about by the preconcert tension.

“I just had an important appointment that day,” Boss Vic clarifies. “Viva might do a repeat.”

There are always two sides to a story. So what’s it gonna be, Vice? Naughty or nice?
