Sophia Laforteza is one step closer to securing a spot in HYBE and Geffen Records’ global girl group as she advanced to the finale of “The Debut: Dream Academy,” while maintaining her top rank in the third mission.

During the announcement of results on HYBE Labels’ YouTube channel last Sunday, Nov. 5, Laforteza and Lara Rajagopalan of the US received immunity from elimination after securing the two highest votes.

US’ Daniela Avanzini, US’ Megan Meiyok Skiendiel, Switzerland’s Manon Bannerman, US’ Emily Ann Kelavos, Australia’s Ezrela Abraham, Brazil’s Samara Siqueira, Thailand’s Jadenipit “Marquise” Auramornrat, and South Korea’s Jeong Yoonchae also made it to the finals.

On the other hand, Lee Nayoung of South Korea, Celeste Diaz of Argentina, and Shimada Ua of Japan were eliminated.

The results came after the contestants, who were divided into three teams, put their vocal, dance, and performance skills to the test through the songs “Buttons” by Pussycat Dolls, “Confident” by Demi Lovato, and “Wannabe” by Spice Girls.

Laforteza, who was part of the “Buttons” group with Nayoung, Manon, Daniela, and Celeste, was sick and had to sit out most of the rehearsal sessions.

Despite this, the trainers praised her for showing “leadership skills” and being able to “pull through.”

Throughout the show, the Filipina remained strong as she ranked second in Mission 1 before emerging as the top candidate in Mission 2.

The 10 candidates will vie for a spot in HYBE and Geffen Records’ global group in the finale on Nov. 18.
