Kathleen Hermosa-Santos remains hopeful that she will be blessed with another pregnancy, as she disclosed that she was previously pregnant with triplets but had unfortunately suffered from a blighted ovum.
According to Mayo Clinic, a blighted ovum—also known as anembryonic pregnancy—is where an embryo “never forms or it stops forming and is reabsorbed by the body,” leading to an early miscarriage.
The 41-year-old actress revealed this while showing the first few weeks of her pregnancy journey through a vlog on her YouTube channel on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
Kathleen and her non-showbiz husband Miko Santos learned about her pregnancy in September and informed their families including her sister and brother-in-law, actors Kristine Hermosa-Sotto and Oyo Sotto.
After about a month, the couple went to the doctor to hear their babies’ heartbeats but was informed that the embryos did not develop.
“I learned that we are only humans, we make mistakes. We question God sometimes, and that’s normal for as long as we try so hard to make our hearts right with God. That we make sure we surrender to His plans,” Kathleen said.
“We chose our cover photo happy and positive because we only want to celebrate and never mourn. It is still a gift. A gift of hope,” she continued.
Kathleen admitted that while she has been holding on to her faith, she still feels heartbroken as she is going through the process of healing.
“We were once pregnant with our triplets. I named them TresM! Marking this day as one of His faithful reminders. He did it to us. He will do it again,” she declared in a separate post on her Instagram page. “God will make us pregnant again! With healthy both myself and triplets again!”
Kathleen then received well-wishes from fans and fellow celebrities, who comforted the actress via the comments section.
Kathleen and Santos announced their engagement in December 2022, then tied the knot in an intimate garden ceremony in Cebu in June.
