Not a lot of people know that actress Dimples Romana’s first ambition wasn’t to become an actress, but a doctor. However, a personal trauma forced her to stop pursuing it as a career.

“I had a sister who died of leukemia, so I got very bad trauma from going to the hospital all the time. And that is the reason why I sort of stopped dreaming about being one,” Dimples replied to Inquirer Entertainment during the launch of her very own skincare product called Dreamcakes.

“Eventually, I found my way to enjoying this craft that I do. I think the dream of becoming an actress grew inside of me more than it being there right away,” she pointed out. “I work hard as one because it’s the only thing I know. When you grow up to be a breadwinner, it becomes natural for you to want to work hard all the time.”

Prayer, festivity

The actress said her hope is to inspire her eldest child, Callie Ahmee, as well. The 19-year-old is now studying to become a commercial pilot.

“I totally respect the way she wants to do things. I respect her timeline and what she wants to grow up into. Now that she’s turning 20 in December, and she’s only a few flights shy of getting her license as a commercial pilot, I’m so happy that she’s pursuing her dream,” said the proud mom. “Sometimes, we have this notion that parents can dictate what their children will take up when they are older. I’m just happy that my husband and I are able to instill in Callie a dream of her own.”

The recent Halloween celebration for Dimples and her family had been fun, she said. Dimples has two younger boys, Antonio and Elio. While it was also a time of prayer for them, since her sister, father and grandmother passed on early, Halloween has also become a festivity for them because of her kids.

“Even Callie loves Halloween. In fact, we used to travel together to Disneyland and dress up. Apart from that, we would go to villages for trick or treating,” she recalled. “I just wanted to be on the safe side this year. Even after the pandemic, people are still getting sick and kids are mostly affected. Definitely, we did trick-or-treating at home.”
