MANILA, Philippines — The Kapamilya noontime variety show “It’s Showtime” may have been temporarily replaced by the Luis Manzano-led program “It’s Your Lucky Day” on the timeslot, but Anne Curtis, one of the former’s hosts, revealed that the new show enjoys the support of the program that it is warming the seat for in the meantime.

INQUIRER.net asked Curtis if she was able to catch the program filling in for their two-week suspension. “Yes, of course, support [for] Manzano!” she said at the “black carpet” of an eyewear brand store opening at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City on Oct. 16.

She also said she found the Manzano-led show “a lot of fun.” And because the daily noontime variety show is mounted by the same team behind “It’s Showtime,” Curtis said, “so we fully support it.”

“It’s Showtime” is serving a 12-episode suspension imposed by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) after the agency found violations committed by the program, a result of a review prompted by complaints that stemmed from a moment when main host Vice Ganda and spouse Ion Perez, also a host, licked cake icing from their own fingers (not each other’s) in an on-air segment.

The MTRCB handed down the suspension order on Sept. 4, but ABS-CBN decided not to appeal to the Office of the President after the MTRCB denied the motion for reconsideration filed by ABS-CBN’s production team. “We respect the authority of the MTRCB, but we humbly maintain that the program did not break any pertinent laws,” the company said.

When Curtis spoke to a small group of media scribes at the opening of the Korean eyewear brand’s first store in the Philippines, she said she found the break “so far, so good,” and that she and the rest of the “It’s Showtime” hosts were planning a quick getaway.

Curtis and many of her fellow members of the “It’s Showtime” family are currently in Hong Kong, spending their break together. Social media posts from the hosts themselves showed photos of Curtis with Vice and Perez, Ogie Alcasid, Kim Chiu, Teddy Corpuz, Vhong Navarro, Ryan Bang, and Karylle with her husband Yael Yuzon.

“It’s Showtime” started serving its 12-episode suspension on Oct. 14, and will return on Oct. 28. “Madlang people, we’ll see you soon,” Curtis said.  /ra
