Miss Earth to stage biggest edition in Vietnam with 114 delegates

MANILA, Philippines — The Miss Earth pageant is expected to welcome its biggest haul to date in this year’s edition of the annual international competition that will be held in Vietnam in December, with at least 114 delegates from different parts of the world.

The announcement was made in a grand press conference held at the Gem Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on Oct. 16. The event even had reigning Miss Earth Mina Sue Choi from South Korea, Miss Earth Air Sheridan Mortlock from Australia, and Miss Earth Fire Andrea Aguilera from Colombia.

Lorraine Schuck, Executive Vice President of Philippine-based Miss Earth organizer Carousel Productions also flew from Manila to attend the press conference, where she was joined by Miss Earth Vietnam President Truong Ngoc Anh, also the CEO of TNA Entertainment that will mount the 23rd edition of the international competition.

Four new crowns for the Miss Earth winner and her “elemental queens” were also unveiled at the press conference. The bejeweled pieces were designed and crafted by Long Beach Pearl, the same company behind the new Miss International crown introduced last year.

As in the previous editions of the Miss Earth pageant mostly held in the Philippines, the 2023 competition also has a packed calendar for the delegates, who are expected to arrive in Ho Chi Minh City beginning Nov. 28.

The National Costume Competition will serve as the welcome event, and it will be held at the Nguyen Hue Walking Street on Dec. 2. The Best Eco Project presentation, where the delegates will present their environment and sustainable development projects, is scheduled on Dec. 4 at the Gem Convention Center.

On Dec. 9, Van Phuc City will host the delegates’ evening gown and swimsuit competitions, dubbed “Miss Earth 2023 X Fashion Voyage.” And on Dec. 14, the “Fashionature” ecotourism and fashion shoot will be held in Vietnam’s southwestern region. The delegates will be back in Ho Chi Minh City for the talent competition scheduled on Dec. 16 at the Saigon Opera House.

The 2023 Miss Earth grand finale will be held at the newly-opened Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center, the biggest indoor convention center in Ho Chi Minh City, on Dec. 22, where Choi will relinquish her title to her successor.

The Philippines will be represented by pageant veteran and medical laboratory scientist Yllana Marie Aduana, who will try to sustain the country’s impressive record in the Miss Earth pageant and become the fifth Filipino woman to win the title. EDV
