MANILA, Philippines — Sam Coloso has been spinning fortunes in the daily game show “Spingo” on the Kapatid channel TV5, where she shares the screen with award-winning actor John Arcilla. With her now constant engagement with the esteemed thespian, the screen vixen has developed a desire to emulate her TV partner.
“I want to be a versatile artist. I want to be a seasoned host and actress like my co-host in ‘Spingo,’ John Arcilla, a versatile actor and now a great host,” Coloso told INQUIRER.net in an online interview.
The two have been serving fun and excitement together to studio contestants, TV viewers, and online participants through the hour-long game show “Spingo” that debuted earlier this month, and is seen Monday to Friday at 5:30 p.m. on TV5.
Before snagging her spot in “Spingo,” Coloso also made the rounds in pageantry. She was first crowned as Miss Mapua Cardinals in 2018, then transitioned to the national stage, where she received the 2019 Miss Face of the Philippines title in 2019. This sent her to the 2019 Face of Beauty International competition as the country’s representative.
But perhaps her biggest pageant triumph came on the “Sexy Babe” stage in the daily noontime variety show “It’s Showtime” last year. She bagged the top prize in the grand finals held in July 2022. But the show biz breaks eluded her despite her big win.
“After winning Sexy Babe, I waited for offers. But for a year I did not receive any project. I felt so down. Yet in the interim, while I felt low, I practiced a lot of dancing and singing, worked out and reflected,” Coloso shared.
This came in handy when she heard about the auditions for her would-be daily gig. “They asked me to sing, dance, act, host and banter with my stand in co-host. I was told that many auditioned for the spot,” she said.
And it did not take her another year of waiting this time around. A month after the fateful auditions, Coloso received a call that would change her life. “They are getting me as co-host. They said the members of the production were unanimous in the decision. I was so glad,” she said.
The sultry siren shared that having it tough had taught her lessons she would not have learned had she gotten everything her way. “In life there are ups and downs, and while we are waiting to go up, we need to struggle hard, to cope, to improve, to hone talents, to rediscover ourselves, and be the best that we can be. And when we have that opportunity to go up, we should seize that chance to show what we can do, and illuminate,” said Coloso, whose stint on the game show has now earned for her the new monicker “Spingorgeous.”
Aside from “Spingo,” Coloso is also a host for “Showtime Online U” and a guest host for “Sinong Manok Mo” on the Pie Channel online. EDV
