Ryan Bang revealed that he finally introduced his Filipino girlfriend — whose identity he has yet to disclose — to his family during their recent trip to South Korea.
The TV host-actor spoke about his trip after his fellow “It’s Showtime” hosts asked why he seemed “happy” during the “Rampanalo” segment of the noontime show on Monday, Sept. 25.
“[Umuwi kasi ako ng Korea] after two years. Alam mo, ‘di ba separate ‘yung magulang ko [since] elementary ako, nag-lunch kami [nang magkakasama],” he shared.
(I recently flew home to Korea after two years. My parents, who have been separated since I was in elementary, reunited and had lunch with me.)
“‘Yung mommy ko, nagkita sila ng daddy ko after 10 years, mainit ulo pa rin mommy ko,” he quipped. (My mom reunited with my dad after 10 years, and she was still hot-tempered.)
Vhong Navarro underscored that what’s important is that Bang’s family was complete during the trip, which was then followed by Jhong Hilario’s teasing question: “Bakit ba complete family?” (So what was really the reason why your family was complete?)
In response, Bang disclosed, “Pinakilala ko sa magulang ko [‘yung] girlfriend ko.” (I introduced my girlfriend to my parents.)
“‘Yung mommy ko kasi hindi marunong mag-English at Tagalog kaya hindi sila magkaintidihan. Kaya para akong nasa trabaho pa rin. Translate ako nang translate, ‘di ako makakain,” he added, drawing laughs from the show hosts and the audience. “Super happy ‘yung mommy ko.”
(My mom doesn’t know how to speak in English and Tagalog so she and my girlfriend cannot understand each other. I felt like I was still at work at the time; I was not able to eat properly because I needed to translate their conversation. But my mom was very happy.)
Bang confirmed last Aug. 29 that he has been in a relationship, although the TV host opted not to share further details about his girlfriend.
Prior to announcing his relationship, Bang said in a “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” interview that he wants to settle down in the Philippines with a Filipina wife. EDV
