Who says ‘I do’ to same-sex marriage?

With the issue on same-sex marriage still raging on, my celebrity forum about it merits a second part. As I’ve said, I’m in favor of it but that doesn’t mean I’m espousing it.

Love knows no boundaries so why should we limit it with a law? The heart wants what it wants. What’s the point of loving if we don’t let our hearts lead the way? Love is blind, so they say. But it should not be deaf to the dictates of our heart.

Gloria Diaz: “Yes to everybody’s right to love whoever.”

Richard Gomez: “I have nothing against same-sex relationships. We have already accepted this as part of our culture and society. But same-sex marriage, I have not yet fully digested.”

Ariel Rivera: “Yes I am in favor because I have dear friends and family members who are gay and they should have the same choice as the rest. We all deserve to be happy.”

Miriam Quiambao: “Not in favor. A man is made to be in union with a woman and a woman with a man. This is how God made it to be in the beginning and explains why physically we are made as such.”

IC Mendoza: “I’m gay so it’s a given that I’m pro-same-sex marriage. Not just because I want to get married to the man of my dreams, but if you have so much precious love to give, shouldn’t it be your choice whom to give it to? It’s not about sexuality. It’s about freedom of choice.”

Zoren Legazpi: “No, I’m not in favor but it’s none of my business.”

Rachel Alejandro: “I’m completely in favor of legalizing gay marriage. Gay people are just like you and me. They want love, companionship, the sense of security and the feeling of belonging. I will never understand why, in this day and age, some people still think there is something wrong with being gay. So what if they’re attracted to the same sex? What’s the big deal?”

Luke Mejares: “Yes, I am in favor of same-sex marriage because everyone is entitled to be happy regardless of sexual orientation, age, race, religion, etc.”

Suzi Entrata: “I am in favor of same-sex marriage because it promotes commitment and mutual respect.”

Dingdong Avanzado: “I am not in favor because marriage was designed for a man and a woman as written in the Bible.”

Christine Jacobs: “I am not in favor of it because it goes against my beliefs.”

Benjie Paras: “It’s not really allowed but gay people want to have normal lives. That’s part of freedom and we can’t judge them.”

Rap Fernandez: “I forbid no love.”

Rufa Mae Quinto: “I believe this is a free country. Message ko sa mga magpapakasal: ‘Todo na ’to!’”

Dating game

Hello Media and Studio 23 join forces to propel romance on Philippine TV to another level with the launch of the first original Pinoy dating game show, “Dream Date,” premiering on July 15 at 11:30 p.m.

It’s the first ever tri-media dating game-lifestyle show in the country created by Pinoys.

Providing the show with its unique match-making system is the nation’s very own and first online and mobile dating-lifestyle network, Chuzi. This matchmaker guarantees a selection process that is exciting yet safe, non-offensive and free from rejection.

Spreading their love vibe to “Dream Date” are Myx VJ Bianca Roque and “Magandang Umaga” host Andrei Felix. Bianca gives advice as the Love Guru and Andrei serves as the Love Cupid.

Though the show is a match made in heaven for the digital age, it is neither only for the tech-savvy nor the social butterflies. It is for everyone with a big heart for upgrading their relational and communication skills and with a great spirit for sharing and expressing their love quotient.

PERSONAL: Thanks from the bottom of my heart to my pangga Tito Aris Demavivas for watching over me, and Orley Ong of the coolest hotel in Iloilo, Westown Hotel, for making me feel so at home. Damo gid na salamat to my “angels” in Inasal Country, Engel Loring, Cres Sy and Pauline Banusing and my newfound friends, Jay Trenas, Riza Ornos and Where’s Charlie band for making my visit to my second home more memorable.
