MANILA, Philippines—The Miss Philippines Culture and Heritage Celebration and the Mister Pilipinas Worldwide competition will hold their respective competitions back to back at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Oct. 24.

The male contest will start at 5 p.m. and will run for an hour. The Miss Philippines will commence after a 30-minute interval, and is expected to start at 6:30 p.m.

The candidates of the two searches were presented to members of the media at Empire Studios at Estancia Mall in Pasig City on Sept. 23. Twenty-one ladies from across the country and Filipino communities in the United States will compete in The Miss Philippines, while 17 men will take part in the Mister Pilipinas Worldwide contest.

They will be busy all month of October as influencers promoting Philippine culture and heritage during the first-ever “The Filipino Festival,” through “The Filipino Food and Products Fest,” “The Filipino Fashion,” “The Filipino Music Fest” and “The Filipino Film Festival.”

The final competition shows of the two searches will serve as culminating events of The Filipino Festival.

Spectators will be treated to a different experience in the two competitions, which will both have no swimwear segments. And in lieu of the evening gown contest, The Miss Philippines will have a “red carpet moment” where the ladies will be made to wear any outfit they choose as their best formal wear, not restricted to just gowns.

And while Mister Pilipinas Worlwide is letting go of the question-and-answer round, the candidates of The Miss Philippines will be provided the platform to discuss culture and heritage promotion in speeches similar to Ted Talks.

The winners of both searches will have the opportunity to represent the Philippines in prestigious international competitions. They will also each receive a brand-new Wuling mini electric vehicle, and their own custom trophy exclusively designed by Jef Albea.

Miss Supranational first runner-up Pauline Amelinckx, who was proclaimed as the first The Miss Philippines titleholder at her homecoming last month, and Mister Pilipinas Supranational Johannes Rissler will relinquish their national titles to the winners.

During the presentation of candidates, the Mister Pilipinas Worldwide contest also feted titleholder Jefferson Bunney who finished in the Top 10 of the recently concluded 15th Mister International competition in Thailand.

Bunney’s and Rissler’s Mister Pilipinas Worldwide batchmate Ivan Ignacio, meanwhile, is set to represent the Philippines in the first edition of the Mister Cosmopolitan contest in Malaysia next month.  /ra
