Dennis Trillo confessed that he doesn’t have any “what ifs” when it comes to relationships, but he couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if he turned out to be gay.
During the media conference for his upcoming series “Love Before Sunrise,” Trillo confessed that there was some point in his life where he wondered what might have happened if he fell in love with another man.
The topic was brought up after Trillo, along with his leading lady Bea Alonzo, was asked about “what ifs,” while touching on the series’ central theme.
“Masyadong seryoso yata ‘yung buhay pag-ibig eh. Mahirap kasi pag may ‘what if’ ka para kang may pagsisisi sa buhay eh na hindi mo nagawa eh, diba” he began.
“Hindi ako masyadong nakarelate d’un kaya siguro ang ‘what if’ ko ay what if kung naging bading ako sa totoong buhay? Ang saya siguro nu’n diba? Marami sigurong magmamahal sa’kin,” he further added.
(It’s too serious to talk about “what ifs” in love. It’s hard because it’s like you’re regretting certain events in your life where you failed to do something, right? I can’t relate to that, so perhaps my “what if” is, what if I turned out to be gay in real life. Perhaps, my life would’ve been happy, right? Many people would love me.)
The actor then briefly noted that he couldn’t think of any “what if” when it comes to romance, saying that he doesn’t regret his experiences in love.
“Ang hirap kasi talaga ng ‘what if’ sa pag-ibig para sa’kin kasi wala talaga eh (For me, it’s hard to have any what ifs in love because I don’t have any regrets),” he said.
For Alonzo’s part, she said that she doesn’t want to share any moment in her life, but clarified that she’s the type of person who loves with her whole heart.
“Hindi ako madalas mag-’what if’ kasi kapag nagmamahal ako, binibigay ko nang buong-buo (I don’t usually have any what ifs because when I love, I give my everything),” she said.
Trillo notably starred as Eric del Mundo in the Kapuso show “My Husband’s Lover,” where his character is the affair partner of Vincent Soriano (Tom Rodriguez). He also portrayed the role of a transgender woman in the film “Aishite Imasu 1941: Mahal Kita,” for which he won a Best Supporting Actor at the Famas Awards and Urian Awards, and Best Actor at the Luna Awards.
The Kapuso star is happily married to actress Jennylyn Mercado, and they have a daughter named Dylan. He previously declared in a “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” interview that he would never be unfaithful to his partner. EDV
