We’ve likely heard many K-pop songs and witnessed the emergence of several groups that may have found their way onto our stan list. While breaking into the heavily saturated K-pop industry is challenging, a girl group from Modhaus is offering something new.
Enter tripleS, uniquely known as the “idol of all possibilities.” The group has 24 members organized into different sub-units. Before tripleS LOVElution’s (one of its units) first world tour in the United States kicks off on Sept. 24, here are some essential facts that will help you get to know them better.
Interesting concept
The group’s concept revolves around its members possessing a special ability called “S,” and they will unite their “powers” to showcase their abilities within the “Dimension.” Hence their names of small S’s gather to make one big S. The three “S” letters stand for “Social, Sonyo, and Seoul.”
Take note: tripleS is living out their vision as a “decentralized” idol group, with members switching between various units.
Fan participation to the next level
In this participatory culture where fans become both the producers and consumers of content, tripleS’ label plans to “expand the role of fans from mere consumers to decision making producers.”
The members will rotate between groups, sub-units, and solo endeavors, as determined by fans (WAV) who will have the opportunity to engage and communicate with the group. This includes making decisions about sub-units and content through the use of NFTs as the label plans to combine the worlds of NFT and K-pop.
The roster of sub-units
The existing sub-units include “Acid Angel” from Asia, which made its debut on Oct. 28, 2022, “+(KR)ystal Eyes,” which debuted on May 4 this year, “Acid Eyes,” introduced on June 6, and “LOVElution,” which debuted recently on Aug. 17 and is set to have their first US tour.
Each year, they will release a full group song based on the number of S’s. The group will be reinvented each season with brand new concepts.
tripleS’ guidance
Taking care of tripleS is Modhaus’ CEO Jaden Jeong. If his name rings a bell, he was the former creative director and music producer of K-pop group Loona, and has shared his expertise on other K-pop companies like JYP Entertainment and SM Entertainment.
Refreshing songs to listen to
tripleS offers a refreshing soundscape, and their song “Rising” features a simple, lively rhythm that is both enticing and immersive, with a rhythmic delivery of the lyrics that stands out as a highlight.
Their latest track, “Girls’ Capitalism,” performed by their sub-unit “LOVElution,” is currently gaining attention and is sure to become your latest earworm.
Now, tripleS LOVElution unit is heading to the US for the group’s first-ever world tour. They will start “rising” in Atlanta on Sept. 24, Reading on Sept. 26, Chicago on Sept. 28, New York on Oct. 1, Tysons on Oct. 3, Akron on Oct. 5, Kansas City on Oct. 7, Houston on Oct. 9, Fort Worth on Oct. 11, and Los Angeles on Oct. 14.
